A disastrous day.
First, I didn't think it could get colder, windier, or wetter. I was wrong. Much of the day was in the 40's with knock-you-over winds and a steady rain. We went to Theodore Roosevelt National Park, but the weather made for poor photos and caused us to spend most of the time viewing the scenery from inside the car. We did manage to see more in the way of animals than most people do so it wasn't all bad.

| I Have No Idea |
Our second problem was our GPS deciding she no longer wanted to participate in our trip. She decided 20% brightness was all she was willing to give us, which means the screen is barely readable. She'll still talk to us, but she'll show us nothing. That should make for some interesting times until she can be replaced
My biggest disappointment, though, was at the entrance to Roosevelt Park. After dutifully paying my $80 for an annual National Park Pass in Pipestone, I pulled up to the entrance gate. Rather than being able to flash my pass, I was greeted by a sign taped to the window saying, "Pay on your way out." I offered to show it to the ranger inside the visitor center, but she had no interest. On the way out of the park I was encouraged by a flashing stop sign at the exit. When I pulled up, however, there was simply another sign taped to the window saying, "Please proceed." It seems there were so few visitors today that it didn't warrant putting someone at the entrance to collect money.
Driving through Medora on the way to our hotel we passed this traffic sign. I have no idea what they thought they were telling me to do, but I pretty much ignored it. No police arrived on the scene so I guess it wasn't that important. If they had I'm sure my park pass would have gotten them to wave me on after they apologized profusely for my inconvenience.
